Making The Right Choice

As a parent you are probably worried and anxious about making the right choice of childcare provider for your child. This is only natural as it is not an easy decision. How will they settle in? How will they cope without you? Will they enjoy nursery? etc

Settling In

If you decide that Fisherfield Farm Nursery is your choice of childcare provider then these are the steps to make: 1. First of all you need to put your child’s name forward for the nursery. (There may not be a place available and so your child will be placed onto the waiting list where you will be kept informed of places becoming available), please inform the nursery if your requirements change. 2. When you decide on when you would like your child to start at nursery you will be offered “visits” for your child. These are booked in at the nursery. Your first visit is for ½ an hour, where you will stay with your child in the room and the staff will give you relevant forms to complete, as well as informing you about the room. 3. Your second visit will be for 1 hour and you may stay with your child for ½ an hour and then maybe leave them for ½ an hour whilst you still remain in the nursery. Build your visits up depending on how your child is settling, as many as needed. 4. We ask for a non refundable deposit to retain your place, administration fees and also visits for your child. If your child is experiencing difficulty settling in we will work closely with you to minimise this period and to ensure he/she enjoys the time spent at Fisherfield Farm Nursery.

Parental Partnership

We believe you are the main educator of your child and so information sharing and communication is a key factor in ensuring a well-organised environment. Our under 2’s receive daily information sheets and our over 2’s have information displayed about the day’s activities for parents/carers to read. Staff, are also on hand to share information on a day-to-day basis. Parents Evenings are arranged every 6 months giving parents a chance to meet the staff and ask any questions they may have. You will also be given the opportunity to look at your child’s work and his/her Progress Developmental Sheets. Courses are run for parents (e.g. “Parent Survival Classes”) as well as fayres and social evenings Newsletters are issued to parents on a quarterly basis. They notify them of special events and general news about the nursery. There is a daily notice board so parents can easily make note of any important bits of news or requests. If you have any concerns or questions your nursery manager / deputy manager will be on hand to discuss them with you.

Little Lambs (Baby Room)

The Little Lambs are from 3 months to approximately 18 months. The main playrooms have plenty of floor space for manovering, floor play etc. There is also a messy play area for water, sand, painting etc. We also have separate sleep rooms for our Little Lambs which are calming and homely. Red Group (approx 2yrs – 3yrs)

The Red Group room provides your child with a more structured day. We follow the ‘Early Learning Goals’ within Red Group to provide familiarity for the next group with various activities. The emphasis is always on learning through play, although we plan carefully to ensure the children are developing their skills accordingly.

Blue Group (approx 3 yrs – school age)

The Blue Group provides a ‘pre-school’ atmosphere, where children can learn and explore to their full potential. The structured day follows the ‘Early Learning Goals’ ensuring that children are developing accordingly and getting varied opportunities of play and learning. The children have open access to a computer with education packages. We also implement a uniform for our Blue Group children to enable their transition to school uniform easier. It also helps when we go on nursery trips as all the children are easily recognised. The Blue Group is a hive of activity where we give lots of various opportunities and build up your child’s confidence for an easier transition to school life.
